Halloween in Cornwall: Witchcraft, Folklore & Things to Do in 2026
If you’re looking for a Halloween break in Cornwall, there’s plenty to discover beyond the usual Halloween attractions.
Cornwall has a long history of witchcraft, folklore and ancient traditions, with museums, historic sites, legends and events to discover. Here are some of our suggestions for things to do in Cornwall at Halloween 2026.
Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, Boscastle
The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Boscastle is a must for anyone interested in witchcraft and folklore.
The museum has one of the world’s largest collections relating to British witchcraft and magic, covering folk magic, healing, charms, rituals and the history of witchcraft.
It’s open until 31 October 2026, including October half term, making it an easy addition to a Halloween holiday in Cornwall.
While you’re there, take some time to explore Boscastle Harbour and the surrounding coastline.
The Dark Gathering, Tintagel
If you’re visiting Cornwall over Halloween itself, The Dark Gathering takes place in Tintagel on Saturday 31 October 2026.
The event celebrates Samhain and Cornwall’s ancestral traditions, with music, song, dance, Morris sides, a procession, Mari Lwyds, ceremony and fire performances.
It’s a very different take on Halloween and particularly interesting if you’re interested in Cornish folklore and traditional celebrations rather than Halloween parties.
Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
Bodmin Jail
For something darker, head to Bodmin Jail.
Throughout October, the Go Darker Guided Tour explores some of the more disturbing stories from the jail’s history, while the Haunted Gallery is open as part of the self-guided experience.
There are also paranormal events during October, including an 18+ Halloween Special on 31 October.
It’s a good choice if you’re looking for something spooky alongside Cornwall’s history and one of the more unusual things to do in Cornwall at Halloween.
Tintagel Castle and Merlin’s Cave
Tintagel Castle is another potentially intesting add on to your Halloween itinerary.
The castle is closely associated with the legends of King Arthur and Merlin and is particularly atmospheric in autumn when it’s not so busy.
If the tide is right, you can also walk down to Merlin’s Cave below the cliffs. You’ll need to check the tide times before visiting and take care on the rocks.
Whether you believe the legends or not, Tintagel is a fascinating place to explore and the views along the Atlantic coast are spectacular.
Walk to St Clether Holy Well from Ekopod
If you’re staying at Ekopod, you can discover something a little closer to home.
St Clether Holy Well and Chapel is within walking distance of Ekopod, with a route taking you down into the peaceful Inny Valley.
The medieval chapel is one of Cornwall’s largest holy well chapels, and the spring itself flows beneath the chapel and through a channel underneath the altar.
There are also stories of ley lines running through the chapel and crossing at the altar.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk to from your pod and so lovely for a short evening stroll after getting back for evening.
Relax back at Ekopod
After a day exploring head back to Ekopod to realx.
Book a few hours in our Wild Spa, with its private sauna, cold shower and woodland setting, or simply light the fire pit and spend the evening outside.
On a clear night, Cornwall’s dark skies make star gazing from your pod particularly special. Then head inside, light the wood burner and run a hot bath before settling down for the evening.
