The Best Place to see Bluebells in Cornwall
Bluebells are my favourite flower. At this time of year Ekopod’s instagram feed starts to get a little bit bluebell heavy as I find it difficult to stop taking photos of them. Luckily for me the lanes around the site are full of them and we also have a lot in the wooded areas of the site. However, there are some places in Cornwall where there are thousands. They are so beautiful to see in that kind of number so I’ve got a little list together of the best places to view them. If you’re here during the bluebell season I highly recommend doing one of these walks!
Bluebell Walks
- Lanhydrock – my favourite. This national trust property is 35 minutes from Ekopod. As well as the extensive swathes of bluebells the rhododendrons are also out at this time of year so the woodland walk around the estate is awash with colour. You can combine with a visit to the house. They also have a newly revamped play park for little ones and mountain bike hire.
- Close to Lanhydrock are Cardinham woods. There are various way marked trails for walkers and also mountain bike trails. They have a little cafe there where you can enjoy a hot chocolate after your walk. There’s a Gruffalo trail here for little ones.
- Pencarrow House and Gardens are just outside Wadebridge, 30 minutes from Ekopod. Here you can also check out the Iron age Hill fort and Cornish Cross as well as visit Pencarrow house itself (guided tours) , for the kids there is also a play park.
All of the above walks are dog friendly but dogs aren’t allowed in the house at Lanhydrock or Pencarrow
Further from Ekopod favourites are Tehidy Woods (1 hour 19 mins) and Eny Gardens (1 hour 20 mins)
