Here are our Top Ten Things to Do with Children in Cornwall this February Half Term, in no particular order.

starling murmurations1) Walking & Exploring

February is a magical time to get outside and explore Cornwall on foot. Bodmin Moor and the surrounding forests offer the perfect mix of wide open spaces, woodland trails, and hidden surprises for little adventurers.

On Bodmin Moor, children will love clambering over granite tors, splashing through streams, and spotting wildlife along the way. The short route from Roughtor carpark to the summit of Roughtor is perfect for little legs, while older children can tackle a circular walk taking in both Roughtor and Brown Willy, Cornwall’s highest point. Finish with a flask of hot chocolate in the car for maximum cosy points. Time your walk to finish near dusk and you might catch the last of the season’s stunning starling murmurations.

For woodland adventures, head to Cardinham Woods, which offers family-friendly trails, interactive panels, and beautiful views. The trails are buggy-friendly, making it suitable for all ages. It also has a range of mountain bike trails.

This offers a fun, family-friendly way to learn about these incredible creatures, how they use echolocation, and why they’re so important. If you’re lucky, you might even see them emerge at dusk at Ekopod! Some sections of Bodmin jail might be scary for younger children.
